Greek Apple Cake
- Bottom layer:
- 4 cups flour
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups butter
- 4 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- Sauce:
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1.5 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- Heat oven to 325°F
- Mix all bottom layer ingredients together using a pastry cutter or food processor. Be careful not to overwork
- Reserve 1.5 cups for topping, and press remaining mixture into a 9x13 pan
- Spread apples over bottom layer
- Mix sauce ingredients well and boil for a few minutes
- Pour sauce over apples
- Top pan with reserved topping
- Bake for 90 minutes
